The Story

Synopsis

When the Kingsman headquarters is destroyed and most of the agency killed, Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) are forced to seek out their American counterparts — the Statesman, a spy organisation operating beneath the cover of a Kentucky whisky distillery.

There they discover that Harry Hart / Galahad (Colin Firth) — shot through the eye at the climax of The Secret Service — is alive. The Statesman have kept him in a state of chemically induced amnesia; he now believes himself to be an entomology professor named Jack Daniels and has no memory of Kingsman, his training, or Eggsy.

Together, the combined organisations must confront Poppy Adams (Julianne Moore), a deranged drug kingpin who has poisoned a global supply of recreational narcotics and is holding billions of lives hostage until the US government legalises drugs.

Reviews

Screen Rant

“Colin Firth does a phenomenal job playing against type — he endears us to Harry Hart in a new way while the character operates outside his natural competency.”

Empire

“Overlong and overstuffed, but the pleasure of watching Firth in this franchise never diminishes. His amnesia scenes are the film’s unexpected heart.”
